Getting started
How do I create an account?
Open the app and sign in with Apple or Google. Hosts need an account; friends joining your board from a link never do.
How do I create a board?
Tap Create Board, pick the NFL game, set your price per square and payout split, and share the link. Hosting one active board is free. Boxpick Pro unlocks unlimited boards for $9.99 a year.
How do my friends join?
Send them your board link. They open it in any browser, enter a display name, and claim their squares. No download, no account, no signup.
Can someone without a phone be on the board?
Yes. As the host you can add a player by name, then pick squares for them or deal them random ones from their menu. Great for grandparents and cash-only uncles. Send them the board link anyway: they can watch the live board in a browser without joining.
Running your board
How do players get their squares?
Your board runs in one of two modes, and you choose when you create it (you can switch anytime before the draw). In They Pick mode, players tap the squares they want. In Dealt Random mode, players just say how many squares they want and the app places them on random open squares. Random is exactly as fair as picking: the numbers are drawn after squares are claimed, so no square has better odds than any other.
What can I do as the commissioner?
Tap any player in the Players list to open their menu. From there you can assign their squares by tapping the grid, record a payment, add a private note, give them random squares, clear all their squares, or remove them from the board entirely. Everything a paper-board commissioner does with a Sharpie, minus the arguments.
How does payment tracking work?
One simple idea: you record how many squares each person has paid for, and the app does the rest. Tap a player, tap Record Payment, and enter their total squares paid. If that covers all their squares, they show green Paid. If they've paid for some but claimed more, they show Owes More with the exact dollar amount due. If they've paid for nothing, they show Unpaid. The board summary shows the full pot and how much you've collected so far.
What if someone pays before picking their squares?
Record the payment first. If Pete hands you cash for 5 squares before he's picked any, tap Pete, Record Payment, enter 5. His row shows paid for 5 and stays green while he claims up to 5 squares. If he grabs a 6th, he flips to Owes More automatically.
What if someone won't pay for a square?
Money is tracked per person, not per square, just like a real board. If someone is short, their row shows exactly how much they owe. If they never pay, open their menu, choose Assign Their Squares, and tap one of their squares to take it back, or clear all their squares and let someone else claim them.
Can I write notes about players?
Yes. Each player's menu has a note only you can see. Handy for a Venmo handle, who invited them, or how they paid. Notes never appear to players or guests.
Can I rename or delete a board?
Yes, while the board is open. Open the board and tap Board Settings to rename it or delete it entirely. Deleting removes the board and its squares for everyone and cannot be undone. Once the numbers are drawn, the board is locked and can no longer be deleted.
When are the numbers drawn?
After the board is full, or whenever you as host decide it's time. The draw happens with an animated reveal everyone can watch, and the board locks when it starts: no more claiming, moving, or clearing squares.
Can I change who has a square?
Before the draw, yes. Open a player's menu, choose Assign Their Squares, and tap the grid to give or take squares. If you tap a square that belongs to someone else, the app asks before switching it. After the numbers are drawn the board is locked for fairness.
How do winners get decided?
Boxpick follows the live score. At the end of each quarter, the square matching the last digit of each team's score lights up automatically on everyone's screen, and the winners list shows each payout amount based on your pot and split.
What is TV party mode?
A full-screen landscape board built for the television: live score, glowing current winner, and a big winner celebration when each quarter ends. Open your board, tap TV in the top corner, then mirror your phone's screen to the TV. On iPhone that's Screen Mirroring in Control Center (Apple TV or any AirPlay 2 television). On Android, use your phone's screen casting to a Chromecast or Google TV. The screen stays awake for the whole game.
What if the live score is wrong or delayed?
Scores come from live NFL data and occasionally lag a play or two. The board catches up on its own. As host, you always have the final say with your group.
What is fundraiser mode?
A Boxpick Pro feature for hosts running boards for a cause: the booster club, the team travel fund, the office charity pool. When you create the board, name the cause and set its share of the pot. That cut is shown to everyone on the board (for example, Pot $500, $100 to Boosters), and winners split the rest by your payout percentages. Boxpick still never touches the money; it keeps the math honest and public.
Can I make a playoff or Super Bowl board?
Yes. The week picker runs from Week 1 through the playoffs: Wild Card, Divisional, Conference, and the Super Bowl. Playoff matchups appear as soon as the earlier rounds decide them, and you can create the board as early as you like.
Is this gambling?
No. Boxpick never takes entry fees, collects pots, or pays out winnings. Any money stays between you and your group, entirely outside the app.

What does Boxpick Pro include?
Unlimited boards, custom payout splits, fundraiser mode, and live win probability on your boards. It's $9.99 a year, and joining boards stays free for everyone either way.
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
On the Account tab, tap Restore Purchases. Your subscription is tied to the store account you bought it with.
How do I cancel Pro?
Subscriptions are managed by the store you purchased on. Open your subscription settings on your phone and cancel there. Your Pro features stay active until the end of the paid period.
Account and privacy
How do I change my display name?
On the Account tab, tap your name card and choose Edit. Your new name updates everywhere at once, including your squares and the player list on every board you're in.
How do I delete my account?
Go to the Account tab and tap Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and all your boards. Guests who joined by link have no account to delete.
What do you do with my email?
It identifies your account and nothing else. No newsletters, no marketing blasts. See the privacy policy at boxpick.app/privacy for the full picture.
